

At 7:46 on September 11, Beijing time, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea with a focal depth of 70 kilometers. The epicenter was located in 80.4 kilometers northwest of Lae, Papua New Guinea's second largest city. After the earthquake, Li Hong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of COVEC, and Jiang Zhe, General Manager of COVEC, attached great importance to the safety of employees and projects, and deployed earthquake relief work in person. The South Pacific Regional Company (China Railway South Pacific Regional Headquarters) immediately launched an emergency response plan. Wang Hongming, the Deputy General Manager of COVEC, went to the site the next day to coordinate and direct the earthquake relief work, and extended the greetings to all the project staffs. At present, all units are in stable condition and no one was injured.
