2013-2014 annual ceremony for National Quality Project Award was held in Beijing on Dec.26. Botswana Maun Airport Improvements-Airside Works, one of the major infrastructure construction programs constructed by COVEC in Southern Africa, was awarded the Silver Award of National Quality Project Award (Overseas Project). 

  The project, with a total cost of $83.13 million, began on Apr. 15, 2009 and was completed on Sep.20, 2012. It includes the rehabilitation and expansion of a new 60 meters wide asphalt paved runway of 3,700km and a parking apron of 138,000 m2 and construction of meteorological station, transformer substation, lighting system, General Aviation (GA) communication system, water supply and drainage system, rainwater collection system and other supporting facilities. 

  The project completely meets the quality requirements specified in the contract and is completed on schedule. Meanwhile, the completion of the project is of great social and economic significance.
