On the morning of March 27th, Nepal Investment Opportunity Roundtable, jointly organized by CCPIT and the Nepalese Embassy in China, was held at DIAOYUTAI State Guesthouse in Beijing.  Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda attended the round table and delivered a keynote speech. Jiang Zengwei, chairman of CCPIT and Mahat, Nepalese Foreign Minister both attended the conference and delivered a speech. Li Jingtao, deputy general manager of COVEC, was commissioned by the company to attend the event.
Prime Minister Prachanda pointed out that China's great achievements in economic development has drawn the world's attention. China has become Nepal's largest direct source of investment and the second largest trading partner. Nepalese government welcomes Chinese companies to make more investment in Nepal’s key sectors such as infrastructure, electricity, minerals, oil, modern agriculture, tourism, ect, and to develop both Nepal’s domestic market and South Asia’s third market jointly with local companies.
As one of the Chinese enterprises representatives, Li Jingtao, COVEC deputy general manager, introduced the progress of Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project (one of Nepalese national "12 key projects") which is currently under construction. Li highlighted the strategic significance of the project and thanked the Nepalese government for its strong support. Prime Minister Prachanda gave full recognition to COVEC's achievements in Nepal and gladly accepted the invitation to attend the launching ceremony of the tunnel shield machine.
