On August 4th, the first segment for Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project constructed by COVEC Nepal was successfully produced, marking the project has officially entered the segment production stage.
The length of Bheri Babai diversion tunnel is 12.2km, and 8639 precast segments with grade C50 concrete strength need to be prefabricated. All staff of project department adhered to the concept of “Implement High-Quality Projects with First-Class Performance", and overcome every possible difficulty. Construction technology of automatic vibrating was adopted, which significantly reduced construction costs and improved the construction efficiency. Now seven mold sets have realized 24-hour uninterrupted production and can produce 30 segments at most during peak hour.
Currently the construction of 150 meters bored tunnel has successful completed and track laying work is in progress. Meanwhile, TBM has arrived in Port of Calcutta in India, and is expected to arrive at project site by the end of the month. This indicates that the project has entered the homestretch. The successful production of the first segment has laid a solid foundation for the arrival of TBM.
