Since the 1970s, with the promotion of the concept of sustainable development, there is a consensus of incorporating sustainable development into the area of corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility, distilled to its essence, is to develop a concept of enterprise and society in harmony. Therefore, corporate social responsibility is an important way to realize sustainable development. Corporate social responsibilities include three parts: economic responsibility, political & cultural responsibilities as well as environmental responsibility. An enterprise is a component of a society; a society is the source of the enterprise’s profits. While an enterprise is enjoying the conditions and opportunities provided by social development, it should be respectful of ethics and morals and take actions in return to promote social harmony and improve its progresses, that is to say, an enterprise should be ‘a good corporate citizen’ during its pursuit of maximum profits.

While pursuing maximum profits (profit), enterprises should adhere to people-oriented concept (people), pay attention to environmental protection (planet) and public activities. Only by achieving the "3 P", can the enterprise fulfill social responsibilities; only by carrying out social responsibilities, can the enterprise achieve sustainable development.
